Good trip, smooth process

I bought a Sparbillette for a trip from Zurich to Bern last month. The website was easy enough to navigate to find the saver tickets. I picked the one I wanted, and the purchase went through without a hitch. The e-ticket showed up in my email pretty fast. On the travel day, I just showed the QR code in the SBB Mobile App to the conductor. No issues at all, everything worked as it should. The train was on time, and the seat was comfortable. Overall a solid experience.

Reliable as always

Another solid purchase from SBB. I grabbed a Klassenwechsel for a longer journey, just for a bit more space. I've bought tickets from them for years, and it's always the same reliable service. The app is consistent, booking is straightforward, and the trains are generally on schedule. That's why I keep coming back for my travel needs.

Mostly good, minor app issue

I got a Halbtax recently, which saves a good amount on tickets, so that's a big plus. The sign-up for it was pretty simple online. My first ticket purchase with the Halbtax discount was for an InterRegio. The discount applied correctly, and the journey was fine. I did notice the SBB Mobile App can be a little slow to load sometimes, especially when looking up connections with lots of stops. Not a deal-breaker, but it could be snappier. Delivery of the physical SwissPass card took 5 days to reach my address in Geneva, which was okay.

I'm thinking of cancelling a ticket I bought but realized I might not need it. Is it a huge hassle or pretty straightforward to get a refund?

H Hannah Robinson 4 weeks ago
It depends on the ticket. Regular ones are usually fine to cancel, but saver tickets (Sparbillette) are often non-refundable or only partially. Check the terms for your specific ticket.

I cancelled one through the app once. It was pretty easy, but mine wasn't a super cheap one, so YMMV. Got the money back in a few days.

Are those Sparbillette actually good deals or just marketing? Planning a trip from Zurich to Zermatt.

S Sam J. 1 month ago
They're legit! I saved like 50% on my last trip to Geneva. You just gotta book super early and be flexible with times.

Totally, if you can snag one. The earlier the better. Sometimes they pop up last minute too if you're lucky, but don't count on it for long routes.

Any experience with bringing a bike on the SBB trains? Do I just roll it on or need a special ticket?

K Kevin A. 1 week ago
You definitely need a separate ticket for your bike, a Velobillett. Or a Velopass if you're bringing it often. Just rolling it on will get you fined.

Yeah, you need a bike ticket. Some trains have dedicated bike compartments, others you just put it in the entry area. Can be a bit tight during peak times tho.

Hey guys, thinking of getting a Halbtax for my trip next month. Is it worth it if I'm only there for like 2 weeks and plan to do a fair bit of train travel?

M Mary T. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, totally worth it even for a short trip if you're taking a few longer routes. It halves most regular fares.

H Hannah P. 2 weeks ago
I'd say yes, especially if you're hitting tourist spots. Even some mountain railways give you a discount with it, not just the SBB trains.

Can you use more than one promo code on SBB tickets? Like if I have one from Coop and another from some SBB campaign?

S Stephanie Walker 1 month ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code per booking. I tried it once with two, only one went through.

M Matt H. 1 month ago
AFAIK, most places only let you stack one. SBB deals are usually built into the ticket types like Sparbillette, not codes.
